Trump Signals Cuba Could Be “Next”
Speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One while traveling to Washington, DC, Trump stated, "Cuba is going to be next," emphasizing his view that developments may unfold soon.
He went on to describe Cuba as "a mess," portraying the country as deeply troubled and unstable.
Expanding on this, Trump remarked, "It's a failing country, and they're going to be next. Within a short period of time, it's going to fail, and we will be there to help it out. We'll be there to help our great Cuban Americans out," underscoring his expectation of imminent decline and a potential U.S. role in assisting Cuban Americans.
When questioned about a report from The New York Times indicating that a Russian oil tanker might be permitted to reach Cuba, Trump responded that he has “no problem” with such a move.
He elaborated, "We don't mind having somebody get a boatload, because they have to survive."
Continuing his remarks, he added, “I told them, if a country wants to send some oil into Cuba right now, I have no problem, whether it’s Russia or not,” signaling openness to external assistance reaching the island.
When asked whether this situation might benefit Vladimir Putin, Trump dismissed the idea, asserting that it would not provide any meaningful advantage.
"He loses one boatload of oil. That's all it is. It's fine. If he wants to do that and if other countries want to do it, it doesn't bother me much. It's not gonna have an impact, Cuba's finished."
