Office of General Services Announces Shift of Multi-Year Infrastr...

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced that the multi-year infrastructure improvement project on the arterial roadway connecting the Empire State Plaza to I-787 and Routes 9 & 20 will shift to the westbound arterial roadway on Wednesday, August 12.  

This essential, multi-year repair project focuses on long-term infrastructure sustainability, including replacing expansion joints, mitigating water infiltration, and restoring concrete, structural components, and utility systems beneath the roadways. 

“As the Empire State Plaza arterial roadway improvement project reaches another important milestone, OGS remains focused on making the essential repairs needed to preserve the long-term safety and integrity of these essential routes," Commissioner Moy said. “Significant progress is being made in strengthening this vital infrastructure to ensure it continues to serve the Capital Region. We appreciate the public’s ongoing cooperation and encourage drivers to stay alert and follow signage while traveling through the work zone.” 

To minimize disruptions, directional signage will guide traffic safely through the work zone. Drivers should be aware of the following traffic patterns: 

• Plaza Parking and Swan Street: Motorists accessing P1 North, P2 North, Visitor Parking (V-Lot), and Swan Street should follow signs directing them to use the open lane on the westbound arterial. Motorists will be able to enter the parking garages from the open left lane.
